A Dawn resident was sentenced in court on Friday. 3David Hughes, 37, pleaded guilty in December to unlawful use of a loaded firearm by an intoxicated person and tampering with a motor vehicle.
According to police reports, Hughes was arrested for firing shots at a former girlfriend and another man while children slept inside the home. Investigators said they also found bullet marks on one of the vehicles parked at the residence. Police said the male victim returned fire, hitting Hughes.
He has been sentenced to five years in the Department of Corrections for the first count and four years for the second, to run concurrent with each other.
