Livingston County residents can be armed with school supplies, backpacks and information about how to stay healthy and active during the school year at this year’s Back to School Bonanza event, being held on the 31st of this month. Click to hear KMZU’s Brain Lock talk with event spokeswoman Jessica Trussel:
“The Back to School Bonanza is actually in its fifth year here in Livingston County. It is a school supply drive that we pass out supplies and backpacks to kids,” stated Trussel. “We also arm them with information on nutrition and physical activity and ways to prevent obesity so that they really have a great start for this school year so that they can be active, happy, and healthy and so that we can really keep our kids moving.”
The event is being held in the North Gym at the YMCA in Chillicothe on July 31. Trussel says that donations from local businesses are required to keep the event up and running.
“The registration deadline for the event is July 15th. We are still seeking donations for the event, and if someone is interested in donating they can contact me at the [Livingston County] Extension Office,” added Trussel.
