BATES COUNTY, Mo. –¬†Another month has passed without a Bates County defendant being represented by a public defender.

Robert Scott Fletcher, 40, of Nevada, Missouri, was arrested in March for second degree burglary and felony possession of a controlled substance by the Butler Police Department. During his initial arraignment on April 4, 2018, Fletcher asked to be appointed a public defender. Since that hearing, his formal arraignment has been continued each month because he is on a waiting list for a public defender to be assigned to his case.

A new hearing has been put on the docket for 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 in Bates County.
