Department of Economic Development releases September 2017 jobs report

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — On Tuesday, the Missouri Department of Economic Development released the state’s unemployment rate for September, 3.8 percent.

Several industries experienced job growth over the month, according to the report. Accommodations and food serviced gained 2,500, while wholesale and retail saw the largest growth with 3,800 new jobs. Support and waste management were up by 3,500 jobs.

Non-farm payroll employment decreased by 10,500 in September, the most reductions occurring in local government.
