Deputy Wrecks During Pursuit

A Carroll County deputy was involved in an accident near the “Baby Canyon” subdivision shortly after 9:00 a.m. on Monday.The law enforcement official was following a suspect from Richmond when the crash occurred, according to scanner traffic.Click to hear KMZU’s Chris Clift talk with Carroll County Sheriff Troy Hofstetter:

On 6/25/12 the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office was informed of an assault that occurred in Ray County earlier this morning.  Deputy Erik Dempsey was at the intersection of Route D and Route E north of Norborne when he located the vehicle.  Deputy Dempsey attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the vehicle.  The vehicle refused to to stop for the deputy that had audible siren and visible lights.

Deputy Dempsey continued to pursue the vehicle until it stopped in front of him suddenly causing a minor accident.  No one was injured and only minor damage to Deputy Dempsey’s vehicle.

All three suspects were taken into custody.  A passenger, Robbie A. Acton was arrested on outstanding warrants from Ray County and Carroll County.  The driver Jennifer McDowell of Carrollton was arrested pending charges.  The third subject, Brandon R. Adkins of Carrollton was released.
