Don’t Turn Prom Night into Tragedy

It’s Prom season and the excitement of this time of year is palatable and also dangerous. Each year across the country thousands of teens are injured and hundreds are killed in alcohol related crashes. Carrie Wolken Youth Coordinator for the Traffic & Highway Safety Division at MoDOT says the risk for injury and death is serious as are the legal ramifications.

Between 2010 and 2012 there were more than 60 fatal crashes and over 235 disabling injury crashes involving an impaired driver under the age of 21; for more information on this subject go to MoDOT’s website.
