The Green Ridge Fire Department responded to the blaze on Morton Road the morning of July 22nd. Both bodies were later found in the back of the house. The autopsy later determined the pair had been shot before the fire started. Investigators believe the blaze was intentionally started to cover up the alleged murder.

The investigation continues. “It’s open, it’s active, and we’re working on it every day,” said Keller, “We hope to, at some point, be able to clear this thing up.”

Keller reports the Sheriff’s Department is working on several leads. Anyone with information is asked to contact their office at (660) 827-0052.

The Pettis County Crime Stoppers are offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest. That hotline number is (660) 827-TIPS (8466). Tips can be sent via text to (660) 281-6501.
