MACON COUNTY, Mo. – An Ethel man died after a rollover crash in Macon County Thursday night.

The report says the crash occurred around 7:00 p.m. Thursday on Highway 149, three and one-half miles North of New Cambria.

Gail M. Allard, 71, was a passenger in a northbound vehicle driven by Rebekah Smith, 45, of Ethel. When their vehicle crossed the center line, Smith over corrected, causing the vehicle to travel off the right side of the highway, strike a fence and overturn.

Allard, who was not wearing a seat belt, was partially ejected during the crash. He later died at Samaritan Hospital in Macon.

Smith is now being held for alleged driving while intoxicated, causing a death and careless and imprudent driving. Formal charges are pending in Macon County court.
