Drug Raid Nets Six Arrests

Six people have been arrested following a joint narcotics investigation by the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office and the Warrensburg Police Department. Gary Alley, Robert Wharton, and Kim Danielson were arrested at a home in the 1100 block of SW 271 in Chilhowee.  At the same time, officers serving a search warrant at an apartment on Mulberry Street in Warrensburg arrested Bryson Ramey, Matthew Brooks, and Susan Wharton. Officials reported finding methamphetamine, digital scales, packaging materials, and firearms at both of the residences. Authorities believe the group had ties to a methamphetamine distribution operation in Kansas City, Mo.

Press Release from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office

A joint narcotics investigation conducted by the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office and the Warrensburg Police Department has resulted in the arrests of six persons. The joint investigation has been ongoing for several weeks as Narcotics Officers with both agencies focused on suspected methamphetamine distribution operations in Johnson County. It is believed the illegal operations in Johnson County and Warrensburg have ties to an organized methamphetamine distribution operation in the Kansas City, Missouri area. Investigators from both agencies have worked around the clock to develop sufficient probable cause to secure search warrants for two separate locations.

On August 30th, 2012 the Johnson County Sheriff’s S.W.A.T. and the Warrensburg S.E.R.T teams simultaneously executed two search warrants. The Sheriff’s S.W.A.T. team executed a search warrant at 1104 SW 271 Road near Chilhowee, Missouri while the Warrensburg Police Department S.E.R.T. team executed a search warrant at 307 South Mulberry Street Apartment A in Warrensburg, Missouri.

Upon the execution of the search warrant at 1104 SW 271 Road, Narcotics Officers from the Johsnon County Sheriff’s Office located methamphetamine that was packaged for sales, digital scale, packaging materials used for narcotics distribution and four firearms. Investigators seized the four firearms which were believed to be used to protect the illicit drug operation. Arrested at the scene for Possession of Methamphetamine with the Intent to Distribute, were Gary Eugene Alley, 49 of Chilhowee, Robert Mack Wharton, 52 of Chilhowee and Kim Lee Danielson, 57 of Chilhowee.

At the same time members of the Warrensburg SERT team executed a search warrant at 307 South Mulberry Street, apartment A. During the execution of this warrant Warrensburg Police detectives located methamphetamine, numerous sets of digital scales, packaging materials used for narcotics distribution and two firearms. Officers at the scene arrested Bryson Shane Ramey, 26 of Warrensburg for Possession of Methamphetamine and Felon in Possession of a Firearm. Matthew James Brooks, 26 of Warrensburg was arrested for an outstanding Parole Violation Warrant and was apprehended with a firearm on his person. The Warrensburg Police Department will be seeking a warrant charging Brooks with Felon in Possession of a Firearm. Susan Ann Wharton, 44 of Chilhowee was also arrested at the scene and held for the Johnson County Sheriff’s office on the charge of Possession of Methamphetamine with the Intent to Distribute.

Bryson Shane Ramey and Matthew James Brooks remain in custody at the Johnson County jail, each are being held without bond on Probation and Parole violation warrants. Bryason Ramey is also being held on Johnson County warrants charging him with Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Felon in Possession of a Firearm. Bond on the arrest warrants for Ramey was set at $4,500. The remaining suspects were booked and released pending the filing of formal charges.
