1383405_738072896208859_495159773_nThe semi-annual September 26th, 2015 Drug Take Back event in parts of Missouri was reported to be an overall success in defiance of reports that fewer sponsors participated than in previous events.  An estimated 1.5 tons of unused pharmaceuticals was collected at 13 drop-off sites recruited by the Missouri Rural Water Association.

Among various organizations which recruit for the national event, the MRWA recruits local water supply districts as host locations because of concern over improperly disposed drugs draining into waterways and public water sources.  This is thought to assist public education regarding drug disposal.

Source Water Protection Specialist and Event Coordinator with MRWA, Eric Fuchs is anticipating even greater participation in future events.

Communities interested in being a sponsor for a Drug take-back event should contact Fuchs at 573-429-1383.
