Drugs, Firearm Charges to be Reviewed

An Alma man will be in a Lafayette Co. courtroom Monday afternoon for an arraignment in the case against him.

Dennis Schmalz, 61, is charged with a total of eight alleged felonies, which include two counts of distribution of a controlled substance, and one count each of maintaining a public nuisance, possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a firearm, receiving stolen property, resisting arrest, and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.

According to the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office, members of the Crisis Action Team allegedly found drugs, paraphernalia and firearms during a search of his home in the 28000 block of Goodwin Road in June.  An arrest warrant was issued following an investigation by the Lafayette Co. Drug Task Force.

Schmalz is scheduled to appear at 2:00 p.m.
