The visit from representatives was a request for backing from the city’s officials.  “We’ve been working with them now for over a year and there were lots of good things in that report,”said Latimer,” So, they would like for us to issue a resolution of support.  This would give them power to wheel and deal when they go to state and federal government to get funding for our area and the counties surrounding us.”

According to Latimer,  the partnership with Zimmer Group and the Marshall-Saline Development Corporation is vital to future growth.  “They are instrumental to real estate projects, as well as attracting new businesses to the area and strengthening those already here,” said Latimer,” They knew people and that’s what it’s all about.  Whether people like to admit it or not, it’s all in who you know.  They have those connections and really fresh ideas.”

Council will vote on the request during their meeting on February 4th.  A  public unveiling of the plan is anticipated on the same day.
