An EMT with the Schuyler County Ambulance District will be in county courtroom Wednesday afternoon to face assault charges related to an incident in late May.

According to court records, Michael Pratte, 46, of La Plata was on an emergency call at a home in Queen City on May 29th. During the call, Pratte asked for the bottle of prescription medication the patient’s wife said he may have overdosed on. The wife then asked for the bottle back before reaching for it. That is when Pratte allegedly grabbed the woman’s arm and pushed her to the ground after throwing an elbow into her midsection. Reportedly, it took the other two medics at the scene to pull Pratte off the victim. The woman needed medical attention following the incident.

Pratte is charged with third degree assault and will be in court at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday for an initial arraignment.
