A change of venue has been granted for the embattled ex-CEO of a failed artificial sweetener company.
Attorneys for Mamtek’s former top official, Bruce Cole, 65, had requested that the case be moved to Adair County during a court hearing in early March. The Attorney General’s Office wanted future proceedings to take place in St. Clair County. Judge Russel Steele sided with the AG’s Office on Monday.
Cole is accused of inappropriately using funds from a $39 million municipal bond that had been intended for the construction of a factory in Moberly. Cole was released on $10,000 bail on Mar. 25.
His next hearing has not been scheduled at this time.
