The Excelsior Springs Police Department has announced the juvenile suspect who was arrested on May 20th in connection with an alleged stabbing/cutting attack on a 43 year old woman on March 10th has been certified by the Clay County Juvenile Court to stand trial as an adult.
According to a press release, a certification hearing was held July 24th and the teen was immediately transferred from the Clay County Juvenile Detention Center to the Clay County Sheriff’s Department upon the court’s ruling.
Fifteen year old Desmond L. Johnson of Excelsior Springs is facing felony charges of alleged 1st Degree Burglary, 1st Degree Assault and Armed Criminal Action. His bond has been set at $300,000.

The Excelsior Springs Police Department is announcing that the 15 year old male juvenile suspect that was arrested on May 20, 2014 for offenses related to the 1st Degree Assault and stabbing/cutting attack of a 43 year old female victim that occurred in Excelsior Springs, Missouri on March 10, 2014, has now been certified to stand trial as an adult. A certification hearing was held yesterday, July 24, 2014 and upon the Clay County Juvenile Court’s ruling, the suspect was immediately transferred to the custody of the Clay County Sheriff’s Department pending a warrant being issued.
As of today, Clay County warrant #14-CYARW-654 has been issued for the 15 year old suspect, now identified as Desmond L. Johnson, for felony charges of 1st Degree Burglary, 1st Degree Assault, and Armed Criminal Action. Bond has been set at $300,000.00.
A criminal charge is not evidence of a crime, and the defendant is presumed to be innocent unless there is a finding or plea of guilty.
