Excelsior Springs Director Stepping Down

For a full decade, Excelsior Springs Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Terry Smelcer has guided the organization through a period of continual growth. On May 1st his tenure comes to an end. Smelcer will remain with the Chamber until then helping to finalize the 2013-14 fiscal year budget and assist with preparing for the 86th Annual Awards Dinner & Auction April 18th at the Elms Hotel. Smelcer was hired in 2003 and a month and a half before his departure; the Excelsior Springs Chamber of commerce boasts over 230 business members and an annual budget of nearly $150,000. Board Chairman David Haugland says it has been a great privilege to work with Terry over the years due his love for the Chamber and the board is grateful for his service. The search for a new Executive Director is underway and qualified candidates can contact the Chamber for more information.
