There will be an Explorer Day Camp at Van Meter State Park Thursday through Saturday from 9 a.m. till noon each day.

Van Meter State Park will hold a free Explorer Day Camp on Aug. 13-15. The day camp will run from 9 a.m. to noon each day. Sponsored by Missouri State Parks, the camp will explore the different ways the American Indian used natural materials to tell stories through art.

Attendance all three mornings will earn participants the Explorer Patch. Requirements to complete the Explorer Program consist of four parts: Service, Interpretive Study, Interpretive Programs and Identification. Adults are encouraged to accompany their children and make day camp a family activity. The number of participants each day is limited to 25.

Van Meter State Park is located 12 miles northwest of Marshall on Highway 122. For more information about the event or to register, call the park at 660-886-7537.
