A registered sex offender was taken into custody by Saline County authorities on Monday for falsifying a sex offender registration.

According to the Saline County Sheriff’s Office report, Brandon Gilkey pleaded guilty to attempted sexual assault in 2005.

Gilkey allegedly registered a rural Saline County address; however an investigation revealed that Gilkey was actually residing with a woman in the 300 block of North Jefferson. That residence is on the same block as a child daycare, violating his probation.

Gilkey was taken to the Saline County jail for a statement before being released.

The case has been handed over to the prosecuting attorney for further action.
