Fatal Accident Shuts Down Highway

Update (10:15 a.m.) – Police have identified the pedestrian killed in an hit-and-run accident on Thursday night. Edward Moody, 34, of Lee’s Summit, was struck and killed when he tried to cross Highway 50.  Anyone with information should contact the TIPS Hotline at (816) 474-TIPS (8477).

 

Police in Lee’s Summit said that a hit-and-run accident claimed the life of a pedestrian. A male in his late 30s was struck and killed when he tried to cross Highway 50 at about 8 p.m. Thursday.  The victim has not been identified. Witnesses said the vehicle that hit him was a large four-door car or possibly a truck. The accident shut down the eastbound lanes of Highway 50 at Highway 291 (Harrisonville exit) through at least midnight.
