Fatal Weekend on Missouri Highways

The first happened Friday morning at about 10 a.m. in Montgomery County. According to reports Debbie Knoepflein, 32,was heading north on Route J just north of Route N when she struck a patch of ice went off the road and flipped. Knoepflein had moderate injuries. Her passenger, infant, Lynn Knoepflein had minor injuries. They were taken to University Hospital. Alan Knoepflein, 5, was flown to University Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The next one happened Friday evening at around 5:45 in Green County. Reports indicate Scott Poe, 24, was heading east on I-44 just east of Springfield when he hit Ronald Remling, 46, of Strafford as he was attempting to cross the road. Remling was declared dead on the scene.

The last one was Sunday morning in Wayne County. The Highway Patrol reports Deborah Allen, 52, of Clubb was heading east on Highway 34 east of Route OO when she lost control on the frost covered roadway, struck an embankment and overturned. Allen was not wearing her seat belt and she was pronounced dead on the scene.
