Fiery Carroll Co. Collision Update

A fiery crash just south of the Tina-Avalon School closed both lanes of Highway 65 for about an hour Monday morning and injured two men.

According to the highway patrol, a tractor-trailer and truck reportedly collided around 7:30 a.m. after the pick up driver, 22-year-old Jeffery Bowman of Chula crossed the center line, striking the semi nearly head-on.

The tractor-trailer was driven by 56-year-old Daniel Atchley of Camden, Tennessee; he sustained minor injuries.

Bowman was reportedly not wearing a seat-belt and had to be extricated from the pick-up. Bowman was taken by Life Flight to Truman Medical Center in serious condition.
