The filing period for the upcoming April election begins in less than two weeks. Click to hear KMZU’s Kristie Cross talk to Carroll County Clerk and Election Authority Peggy McGaugh:
McGaugh says those interested in being on the ballot need to be aware of a few things. “The most important date isTuesday, December 11th when the filings open,” said McGaugh,” What people need to remember is that they file with the clerks or the secretaries of the entity they wish to file for except for the Carroll County ambulance district and by statute I take those filings here.”
“They can contact those clerks and find out what the requirements are because they do vary,”said McGaugh,” One of the things that each person has to do now is file a declaration of candidate form. They will also need to comply by the Missouri ethics laws. People who live in the city need to have their taxes paid.”
Candidates are required to be registered voters. The filing period will close on January 15th.
