Vehicle Fire Stalls Traffic on I-70

Kansas City Fire crews and MoDOT workers finish cleaning up the scene of a vehicle fire that closed a westbound lane for nearly two hours Saturday.

A vehicle fire broke out on I-70 west of the Chrysler overpass. Emergency crews were called to the scene in the westbound lanes just before 10:40 a.m. Saturday. Fire crews that are Haz-Mat capable were called into the situation and a westbound lane had to be shut down for nearly two hours. It was open shortly before 1 p.m. There are no reports of injuries at this time. KMZU has been in contact with Kansas City Police and Jackson County authorities and we will bring you more details as they become available.
