Kids and adults alike will be entertained as there is a full agenda of planned activities. “We will have the regional herpetologist here from Columbia,” said Leap, “She will have different turtles and snakes to show the kids. We will have the stream box going which is a large sandbox with water running through it. The kids can get in and move around rocks and sand to see how water flows in relation to the landscape. We will also have a fishing game where kids can get their hands on some rods and reels.”

The main event will be held at the outdoor amphitheater. “There will be a presentation by the Dickerson Park Zoo from Springfield featuring eagles,” said Leap, “They will have at least one eagle here at the refuge and maybe even two.”

Both the observation tower and the visitors center will also be open to guests this evening.

Friday night’s activities are scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m. with the eagle presentation starting at 7:00 p.m.
