Construction will begin this week on the Emergency Department entrance at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall. Click to hear KMZU’s Sarah Scott speak with Marketing and Public Relations Coordinator Richard DeFord:
“Currently, when somebody has an emergency, they go to the front entrance of the hospital. Which is kind of the round drive, and come in the front and register. And then they wait to be called, and they have to walk all the way to the back of the hospital for the emergency department,” said DeFord, “And we recognize that, you know, when you’re already not feeling well, to have that additional burden of having to walk back there, that’s a challenge.”
While the work is being done, ambulances will use an entrance two doors to the north. Walk-in emergency patients will continue to use the main entrance until the work is complete.
