The flood plain maps are set to be updated in Saline County.  The County Commission has scheduled a public hearing to explain the changes to Saline County residents.  The new flood maps, determined by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, will update the county’s designated flood plains and flood ways.  If the County Commission does not accept the maps by January 16th, Saline County residents will no longer be eligible for federal flood insurance.  The Commissioners are having their engineering firm review the new maps in order to make sure they are correct.  The public hearing is scheduled for December 13th at 9:30 in the morning.  It will be held in the Commissioners’ meeting room, and all Saline County residents, especially those with land near the river, are invited.
