Influenza activity is expected to increase in the coming weeks. The clinic will be open from1:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Monday and 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. A standard vaccine for adults costs $25 dollars, it is $10 for those under the age of 18, the intranasal mist costs $30, and the high dose vaccine cost $45.

Flu vaccine is still available at the Lafayette County Health Department, 547 South Business Highway 13 (Lexington). The Centers for Disease Control reports that influenza activity is early this season and expected to increase in the coming weeks. They weekly influenza report provided by the Missouri department of Health and Senior Services for week 51 confirms that cases in Missouri are occurring earlier this year than in recent seasons. It is unknown when this season’s peak in Missouri will be.
It is not too late to be protected. Flu vaccinations are available during regular clinic hours (Mondays 1 – 4 p.m.; Wednesdays 8:30 – 4 p.m.; and the last Tuesday of the month from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.).
The flu vaccine program offered b y LCHD is conracted through VaxCare. Clients can choose from standard influenza vaccine, intranasal mist, and high dose (for persons age 65 and older). through the arrangement, VaxCare is able to bill some insurance plans: Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Cigna, Coventry, Humana, Medicare Part B, Medicare Railroad, United Mine Workers of American (UMWA) and United Health care. Clients may also pay cash.
