Focus on Forages Meeting to Be Held at Hundley-Whaley
The University of Missouri Extension will hold a Focus on Forages Meeting V, Tuesday, July 30 starting at 6 p.m. at the Hundley-Whaley Learning Discovery Center in Albany. The meeting provides area livestock producers the latest research to address current issues producers are facing. The meeting will have tours of various plots and presentations.
First, area livestock producers will be able to view the forage legume and nitrogen application timing plots at Hundley-Whaley. These plots have been established for six years and we will view the impact of last year’s dry weather on legumes. New this year is a novel endophyte tall fescue varieties test. This test was established this spring to show area producers the benefits of this technology as it continues to gain in popularity.
Formal presentations will be given inside the learning center and these include fescue toxicosis, managing pasture weeds, double-cropping hay ground, true cost of hay production and the cover crop demonstration update.
If you are planning on attending, please RSVP to the Gentry County MU Extension office at 660-726-5610 by Tuesday, July 23. There is a small fee to cover the meal and copies of the presentations.
