Missouri Governor Jay Nixon will be joining officials from the Ford Motor Company at the Kansas City Assembly Plant in Claycomo on Thursday morning.  The company is expected to announce the addition of about 2,000 jobs during the 10:30 a.m. news conference.  Ford spokesman Doug Scott said the money will go toward getting the plant ready for increased production.  Click to hear Scott:

The assembly plant plans to add about 900 employees for the production of the Ford F-150 pickup truck over the next month.  Sales of the trucks are up 19 percent this year compared to 2012 figures.

Ford will begin building a new Transit van at the Clay County facility later this year, which is expected to increase the workforce on that production line by about 1,100 new workers.

The Claycomo plant currently employes more than 2,400 people.
