Columbia, Mo.,- Scott Hays, past chairman of the Missouri Pork Association (MPA), presented the annual Chairman’s Award to Everett Forkner during the 2013 Missouri Pork Expo on February 13.
Forkner, a pork producer from Richards, Missouri, raises Duroc, Hampshire, Yorkshire, Landrace, Berkshire and Truline Genetics pork. His achievements in the pork industry within swine improvement, boar testing, carcass and genetic evaluation, and in the show ring rank him among the nation’s best.
His drive and passion for the future of the industry includes being active at the state and national levels. He was the chairman of the National Pork Board from 2011-2012, a member of the Missouri Pork Association, and has served on the board’s of the American Landrace Association and the United Duroc Swine Registry.
“Everett has been a leader in the pork industry and a great help to the Missouri Pork Association,” said Hays. “We thank him for his hard work and dedication, and look forward to working with him in the future.”
Each year, the MPA Chairman presents the award to a key individual for their support of the pork industry, the Association and its members.
The 2013 Missouri Pork Expo was held February 13-14 in Columbia. Pork producers from across the state enjoyed a trade show, producer education sessions and guest speakers. The Missouri Pork Association represents the state’s pork producers in the areas of promotion, research, education and legislation.
