Former Carrollton Policeman to be Arraigned in Jan.

A former Carrollton police officer appeared in court Wednesday morning on charges of felony assault related to a shooting in September.  According to the probable cause statement, Lynn Ward was attempting to apprehend a suspect involved in an earlier dispute when the individual ran from the scene.  Ward allegedly chased after the suspect, drew his weapon, and shot at the individual.  The 50-year-old Lexington resident was relieved of his duties at the Carrollton Police Department shortly after the incident.  Wednesday, Ward waived his right to a preliminary hearing and is scheduled for arraignment in circuit court January 15th at 9 a.m.
