UNDATED (AP) — A person familiar with Andy Reid’s plans told The Associated Press that former Eagles coach Andy Reid has been interviewed by the Chiefs for their head coaching vacancy. Reid was one of seven NFL coaches fired Monday, along with Kansas City’s Romeo Crennel.

Major sports media outlets are reporting that Reid and the Chiefs met for over eight hours Wednesday in Philadelphia; and today they are very close to a deal.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter has reportedly said that the two parties are close, with just minor details to be ironed out.

No official word has come from either the Kansas City Chiefs or Andy Reid’s agent at this time.

Kansas City has also interviewed Atlanta offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter, but Falcons coach Mike Smith says Koetter signed a new contract and would not be a candidate for head coaching jobs this season.
