Former Treasurer Sentenced for Fraud

The former treasurer of the Wellington Napoleon Fire Protection District and Special Road District pleaded guilty to a fraud scheme Wednesday.

Leland Ray Kolkmeyer, 58, admitted to embezzling more than $1,500,000 from the two districts.

Kolkmeyer admitted he began stealing from both positions back in 1998. He is subject to up to 40 years in federal prison without parole. His sentencing hearing will be held at a later date.
