An accident in Cooper County Monday afternoon resulted in injuries for two people. The Highway Patrol reports the crash occurred as Carol Lopatin, 53, of West Bloomfield, Mi., was eastbound on I-70 at the 89 mile marker.  Investigators said she attempted to merge into the path of an unknown vehicle.  She then swerved back, which caused four motorcycles in that lane to then strike the rear of her vehicle.  Two of those drivers were ejected.  Don McAfee, 60, of Apple Valley, Ca., received serious injuries and was flown to University Hospital.  The second driver, Hector Casteneda, 70, of El Paso, Tx., sustained moderate injuries and was transported to the Columbia hospital.  The other motorcyclists were not injured.
