Macon County Deputies arrested James L. Wright, 23, of Macon Friday morning at approximately 12:30. Wright is charged with alleged felony resisting arrest, assault on a law enforcement officer with a deadly weapon, leaving the scene of an accident, possession of marijuana, unlawful use of drug paraphernalia, driving while revoked, and was also wanted on 10 active arrest warrants.

Also arrested was Darren J. Ellis, 26, of Macon for resisting arrest by fleeing on foot.

A high speed chase was undertaken late Thursday night after a sheriff’s deputy observed a light silver passenger vehicle driving erratically on a county road southwest of Macon.  During the pursuit the suspect vehicle collided with a Macon County deputy’s cruiser and continued westbound. A short time later the two suspects abandoned the vehicle and attempted to elude officers on foot.

Wright was apprehended first without incident and Wright was found a short time later in the Macon area. Deputies allegedly found marijuana and drug paraphernalia on Wright and he was transported to the Macon County Jail. His bond is set at $50,000. Ellis is also being held in the Macon County Jail on a $1,500 bond.

The Macon County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
