The joint effort will benefit 11-year-old Heather Johnson and her family.  “She is in the 5th grade at Santa Fe elementary school and is fighting cancer for the second time, ” said Koch, “She has leukemia.  Last October she was actually pronounced cured, but she became very ill on November 27th and was rushed to Children’s Mercy Hospital where it was determined the disease had returned.  She is currently undergoing heavy treatments, but she has a wonderful attitude and is just a very sweet young lady.”

The community has come together to support Johnson and her family with medical expenses.  “We will serve a ham dinner with all the trimmings,” said Koch, “It will be a really good meal followed by a silent auction.  A couple of local ministers will also provide some music for us, so it should be a nice evening and it goes for a great cause.”

The event will be held in the Waverly Elementary School beginning at 5:30 p.m.  Donation items for the auction are appreciated and make be dropped off at the Victory Christian Church this week between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
