The nearly sold out performance of Gene Watson and the Farewell Party Band Sunday, at the Gary Dickinson Performing Arts Center has been canceled. The winter storm in the southern U.S. is preventing Mr. Watson’s tour bus getting to Chillicothe in time for the show. The concert has been rescheduled to Sunday, April 13th and all advanced and season tickets will be honored, those with tickets waiting at the window, can still pick them up on April 13th.

Press Release from the Chillicothe Area Arts Council

The Gene Watson Concert scheduled for this Sunday, December 8 in Chillicothe has been cancelled. This cancelation was caused by winter storms affecting Watson’s travel route to Chillicothe. His bus could not get through.

The concert has been rescheduled for 3 p.m., Sunday, April 13, 2014, at the Gary Dickinson Performing Arts Center. All advanced-sale tickets and season tickets for that show will be honored. Those who have tickets in hand should hold on to them. Those who purchased advanced tickets and planned to pick them up at the box office can still do that on April 13, 2014, the day of the show.

According to Julie Ashbrook, Chillicothe Area Arts Council Administrator, Gene Watson has only canceled his show three times in 45 years. She said Watson apologized for the inconvenience to everyone. “We’ll wait for Texas to thaw out, and see everyone April 13 for a great Gene Watson show,” Ashbrook said.
