HOWARD COUNTY, Mo. — The Glasgow School District has filed a motion to hold the Howard County Coroner in contempt of court in a case involving the death of a student at Glasgow High School last year.

According to court records, Coroner Frank Flaspohler was ordered earlier in the month to turn over documents related to the death of Kenny Suttner, who took his own life in December of 2016.

A coroner’s inquest followed, and in January Flaspohler said the district had been negligent in preventing bullying. Harley Branham, Suttner’s former manager at the Dairy Queen in Fayette, was charged with involuntary manslaughter in the Glasgow teen’s death.

The District says they never received any documents, and filed a motion October 13 to hold Flaspohler in contempt of court. Flaspohler will have the opportunity to defend himself in a court appearance November 1.
