Gov. Nixon Declares State of Emergency

Governor Jay Nixon as declared a state of emergency in response to the heavy rainfall that has produced wide-spread flooding throughout the state. Gov. Nixon made the announcement Friday afternoon saying the National Guard has been called in to assist communities with fighting the rising waters of the Mississippi and Missouri rivers. Gov. Nixon has also activated the Missouri State Emergency Operations Plan that allows state agencies to coordinate with local jurisdictions directly to provide emergency services.
