Gov. Parson extends state benefits to families of fallen medical personnel

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. —¬†EMTs and paramedics are now eligible for some state benefits if they die in the line of duty.

Gov. Mike Parson signed a bill Monday that adds medical first responders to the list of recognized public safety officers.

The bill will let the families of those responders claim up to $25,000 in state benefits after their deaths.

Children of fallen public safety officers also receive free tuition at state colleges as part of the benefits package.
