Guilty plea entered in federal drug case

KANSAS CITY, Mo – A Columbia man pleaded guilty to drug distribution charges Thursday, July 28, in federal court.

The owner of Bocomo Bay, Kevin Bay, 47, admitted to the distribution of more than two million dollars worth of synthetic marijuana, or K2, from 2011 to 2013.  The compound, similar to the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana, is mixed with, or sprayed on plant material to be sold as a drug for human consumption.

Bay could face a maximum sentence of up to 40 years without parole in federal prison.

A sentencing hearing is pending.
