Gun Charges Filed in Macon Co.

Macon Police are reporting new developments in a case that was started back in August.

Authorities were called to the 100 block of West Bourke Street in the early morning hours of August 13th on reports of individuals breaking into vehicles. Once on scene three juveniles were taken into custody and a handgun was seized that was reported stolen from a vehicle in Macon in July.

The suspects were interviewed and turned over to the county juvenile office. After an investigation Macon Police report they arrested Christopher A. Beals, 26, of Macon, for felon in possession of a firearm last week.

He is currently in the Macon County Jail on a $9,000 bond.

On 08/13/13 at approximately 12:55am, the Macon Police Department was notified by 911 Dispatch of suspicious activity in the 100 block of West Bourke Street.  It was reported that individuals were seen getting into vehicles in the area.  Macon Police Officers responded to the scene and located three juvenile suspects one of which attempted to flee from the area on foot.  Officers were able to apprehend the three juveniles, two 14-year old black males and one 15-year old black male.  All three suspects were transported to the Macon Police Department for further investigation.  Parents and the Macon County Juvenile Office were contacted.  The juveniles were then turned over to Juvenile authorities for their handling.  During the investigation, police confirmed these juveniles were also responsible for several vehicle break-ins over the month.  Evidence of theft from vehicles was recovered at the time of arrest.  All suspects were interviewed at the police department.  As a result of the investigation, officers recovered a stolen handgun.  The gun was reported stolen from a vehicle here in Macon on 07/10/2013.

 

**UPDATED RELEASE**

 

As Macon Police Officers continue to investigate the reports of stolen items from vehicles, it was determined that an adult suspect had knowledge and possession of the handgun recovered by police.  This adult suspect is a convicted felon, therefore police applied for and obtained an arrest warrant for Christopher A Beals, 26-year old black male of Macon, for felon in possession of a firearm.  The warrant was obtained and served upon Beals on 08/28/13 at approximately 11:45am in the 100 block of Vine Street.  Beals was then taken to the Macon County Jail where he is being held in lieu of $9,000 cash only bond.
