According to Nail, the results indicate the first year was a huge success.  “We had 11 of our 12 students who we selected last January complete the program,” said Nail,” All together, those people lost 472 pounds which I think is very pleasing.  Not only did they lose that weight, but they’ve really gained a lot as far as their emotional well-being and the happiness and contentment in their life.”

The overall winner for 2012 was named during the ceremony. “Our Healthy U winner which was Bob Satnan lost 106 pounds or 32 percent of his starting weight,” said Nail,” I feel very confident that all of them have made some lasting behavior changes and that’s the hardest part about weight loss is to really change your behavior and the way you think about food.  So, I think they’re all leaving this program with the tools to be successful going forward.”

The program also consisted of a community challenge in which 70 individuals participated.  The winner of that segment was Charles Riley who lost 63.7 pounds or 15 percent of his starting weight.

The group also launched their 2013 class during Thursday night’s program.  Those individuals will work with nutrition and fitness coaches during the next 12 months and have their final weigh-in in December.
