Hearing Scheduled for Murder Case

A 24-year old facing multiple felony charges in Sullivan and Grundy Counties will be in a Grundy Co. courtroom Tuesday for a preliminary hearing in the murder case against him.

Jameson Read of Trenton is charged in Sullivan County with one count of assault and in Grundy County he is facing one count each of murder and armed criminal action.

Police allege that Read shot John Vencill, 52, multiple times on July 3rd before dumping his body and a car in a pond in rural Grundy County. The Trenton man is also accused of assaulting a person in Humphreys on July 4th.

Read will go before Judge Steven Hudson at 1:30 p.m.
