Helicopters were called for both drivers after a Ray County crash

RAY COUNTY, Mo. – Both drivers were seriously injured during a head on collision in Ray County Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Missouri Highway Patrol crash report, Lonnie Hayes, 57, of Kansas City, was westbound on Highway 210, West of Route EE, when he traveled across the center line. His pickup collided with a Jeep Wrangler driven by Franklin Mahurin, 50, of Waverly.

Hayes was flown to Truman Medical Center and Mahurin to Research Medical Center for treatment.

Hayes is facing allegations of felony possession of methamphetamine, driving while intoxicated by drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, failing to drive on right half of road and no insurance.
