Higginsville Defeats Concordia at Home

The Higginsville Huskers hosted the Concordia Orioles to start the 2012 High School Football Season Friday night.

The first two series for both teams were scoreless then in the middle of the first quarter Higginsville quarterback Adam Reid found receiver L.J. Williams for a 60 yard strike to go up over the Orioles 6-0. The point after was successful and Higginsville was out to a 7-0 lead in the first.

Concordia went three and out and on the Huskers next possession Running back Cotry Lewis took it to the house on a 41-yard run leading to a 13-0 lead for the Huskers after the point after failed.

From then on out the Huskers poured it on. On Concordia’s next possession Cotry Lewis struck again with an interception returned 35 yards for the Huskers.

Then on the next Orioles possession Tyrelle Thirkield scooped up a fumble and ran it back for a 52 yard score. Landon Figg caught a 7 yard pass for a touchdown. And Tyrelle Thirkield caught another two TD’s to round out the offensive effort for the Huskers.

Concordia was able to finally score in the second half with a 53 yard TD run by Cory Meinaka.

Final score Higginsville 48 Concordia 6.

Higginsville will travel to Boonville next Friday and Concordia travels to Orrick.
