The Holden Eagles were on the road Saturday afternoon in Lathrop to take on the Mules in the quarterfinal round of Class 2 action.

Holden jumped out to an early 14-0 lead after a 5 yard touchdown run by Max Mickey and a TD pass from Jeff Miller to Jordan Mullins and a 2-point conversion by Max Mickey. Holden would never relinquish the lead.

However, Lathrop was battling all game forcing the Eagles into 2 turnovers as well as getting touchdowns from Robert Askren who rushed in from 26 yards out with 1:49 left in the 1st quarter. In fact after that score, Lathrop and Holden would trade touchdowns the rest of the game.

Holden was able to separate late in the 4th quarter with two back to back touchdown rushes from Max Mickey and Austin Tevis. The final score: Holden 48, Lathrop 27.

The Mules finish the season with an 11-2 record. Holden is now 11-2 and will host Blair Oaks next Saturday the 17th at 1:30 p.m. That game will be broadcast live on sister station 103.9 KRLI or online at 1039thegrenad.net, pre-game starts at 1:15 p.m. That quarterfinal match-up will determine who advances to the Show-Me Bowl, Class 2 Championship on November 24th.
