A fourth of July celebration is taking place in Warrensburg on Thursday. The annual Freedom Spectacular fireworks display is scheduled to be held at 6:30 p.m. This year’s event will include free hot dogs, a bounce house, games, and an appearance by the Warrensburg Community Band. The fireworks display will begin after dark.

The Fourth of July is just around the corner and the Warrensburg Fire Department would like to remind everyone that fireworks are not allowed in the City of Warrensburg. “The safest way to enjoy fireworks is by attending a public display”, says Jeremy VanWey, Fire and Emergency Prevention Officer.
The annual Freedom Spectacular fireworks display is being planned again this year in Warrensburg. This event is sponsored by Grover Park Baptist Church, Warrensburg Parks and Recreation, and American Legion Post 131. It will begin at 6:30 PM where they will have free hotdogs, bounce house and games followed by a performance by the Warrensburg Community Band at 7:30. Fireworks will begin after dark. Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy the fun!
Several other displays will also be hosted in the area. Among these are the Booms and Blooms Festival at Powell Gardens near Kingsville, Truman Lake Dam Experience at Warsaw, and KC Riverfest in Kansas City. Booms and Blooms will take place on July 3, 2013. They will have activities throughout the day and conclude with fireworks at night. For more information, go to www.powellgardens.org.
