Chapman said the annual event is designed to promote area retailers.  “It’s part of a larger initiative that Main Street Chillicothe and the Chamber do together called Local First,” said Chapman,” It’s a Think Local, Buy Local, Be Local effort to keep people’s dollars in here in town, but especially during the holidays when a majority of the shopping is done.”

According to Chapman, a number of special promotions will be offered throughout the day.  “Black and Red Friday is our version of the after-Thanksgiving Day sales, but we do it the Friday before,” said Chapman,” We try to get to people before they hit the highway to go to another town and before they jump online.  We hope they’ll first look here in Chillicothe at some of the great stores and deals we have.”
