House Delays Votes On Food Safety

WASHINGTON (AP) — Food safety rules that include making sure workers’ hands are washed, are being delayed in the House until the Food and Drug Administration conducts a study on their economic impacts.

The proposed rules would require farmers and food companies to take new precautions against contamination.

But Republican Congressman Dan Benishek of Michigan says the regulations would be burdensome to farmers in his district.
